Doggy
My husband and I have a miniature smooth Daschshund (some people call it Teckel). The boy is very needy of human companion. We no longer have a chance to get out of our house often. For those who are a first time Daschund owner, here is my advice to you: brush the dog's teeth every day! Apart from the well-known back problem, we found out that the breed is also prone to teeth problem. We learned the hard way. Our dog has to see his personal dentist (yes, one exists for pet) every year because of that. (He almost got the root canal planning!) Here is the links for those interested in the breed.

Fishy
My husband and I used to have two fish tanks at our place. The first one is a 60-gallon rock tank with with cichlids from Lake Tanganyika: lemon cichlids (Neolamprologus leleupi), brichardis (Neolamprologus brichardi) and convict julies (Julidochromis regani). Our second tank is a 30-gallon plant tank. Now we have given up the bigger tank and turn the smaller one into a marine tank. Here is a list of "fish" links that we like.

Photography
My hobby is landscape photography. I did a lot of that when I was a graduate student at UCLA because it was so convenient to go to national parks in California, Utah and Arizona. Also, the cost of developing was cheap. A&I, one of the best slide labs in the U.S. happens to locate in LA and provides discounts for students. I could just get my slides developed in half a day. (My main film was Fuji Velvia.) If you are interested in photography, check out these links.

Snowy
After we moved to Montreal, we switched from photography to snowboarding. (We need to find something to do during the long Canadian winter!) Within Quebec, if you are an advanced or expert free rider, I highly recommend Mont Sainte Anne for its good deal during January. I also recommend Le Massif. Its trails are really beautiful. (For a beginner or an intermediate rider, Mont Tremblant probably fits your skill better.) For a free styler, Mont Saint Sauveur is a cost effective choice.
